Early cover sent by Ernest Arnold
Envelope sent by Ernest Arnold to his mother wihilst she was visiting Ivybridge, sent on 22nd August 1894
Whilst not sent by Bray, this cover provides an early example of Ernest Arnold's association with the occupants of "Torr Hill", a house in Ivybridge, Devon. The address is clearly written in Arnold's handwriting (refer to later examples) and bears his personal name stamp in purple on the front. The strange round marks on the reverse appear to be in the same colour and were probably made by a metal washer dipped in ink. An early indication of mischief perhaps.
The postage stamp is a line-engraved 1d. star issued in 1855, representing very late usage.
